Autumn Fishing
on Bass Lake
There is probably nothing more picturesque in Northern Minnesota than a day on the water of Bass Lake. Mother Nature has created a landscape that only she could have painted. Close your eyes, if only a moment, and picture yourself surrounded by all of this beauty, with the fishing nothing short of phenomenal.
ATV/OHV
As the popularity of OHV/ATA trails increases so do the number of great trails in our area! Itasca County offers thousands of acres of federal, state, county and industrial forest land that are open to off-highway vehicle riding, but very few designated trails exist. Forest or logging roads are an excellent choice for ATV/OHV use. Each municipality or level of government has a different management plan that governs off-highway vehicle use on their lands. Please check with those governing bodies and know the rules for the type of land you are riding on. Not all classifications of forest roads are open to traffic so be sure to know the rules before you travel.
Fishing
Walleyes can be taken by various methods, but for many anglers, a Northland Fireball Jig and minnow is tough to beat. Fished in the shallow areas, many a walleye has come to the boat with this presentation. The extra bonus of fall fishing is that there are times in the Fall that nearly every species of fish can be taken in the same areas on Bass Lake. On some of the warm sunny fall days, try a nightcrawler on a slip sinker rig for the more finicky walleyes. If trolling Shad Raps is your favorite, then tie one on and hold on, because some of the biggest walleyes of the year are caught this way. With miles and miles of shoreline structure to be trolled, it’s never a dull moment and many of the guests at Wildwood Resort have come in with stories of huge bass and northern pike following their baits back to the boat when retrieved.
Hunting
Experienced hunters know a hunting paradise when they see it – and that is why Wildwood Resort is such a popular hunting destination. Our resort is located in the heart of northern Minnesota’s premier hunting grounds where hunters find excellent hunting for black bear, grouse, ducks, geese and deer in the immediate vicinity. Whether you shoot black powder or a rifle – shotgun or a bow you will find a hunting paradise right here.
Fall Color
There’s no better time than Autumn to come to Wildwood Resort and enjoy the beautiful serenity of northern Minnesota. Autumn brings crisp, cool air (along with some warm days) and a bold array of colors. Maples, Birch and Aspen turn in late September and create a symphony of red, orange, yellow and gold set against a backdrop of evergreen and clear, blue sky.
