Nothing says “spring” like the Minnesota Walleye Fishing Opener. After the long Minnesota winter, open water fishing season is celebrated like a holiday! Bass Lake is a beautiful, clear lake and offers first-rate Minnesota fishing for panfish, walleye, northern, and largemouth bass. The bluegill population in Bass Lake is so healthy that the DNR has placed a special limit of 5 fish per person. It’s not unusual to see one measuring 11 inches. The Minnesota walleye fishing and northern fishing is also outstanding in the early season. And best of all Bass Lake offers anglers great fishing without the large number of boats found on other area lakes. At Wildwood Resort in Grand Rapids, we believe that spring isn’t just for the fishermen in the family! We think spring is also the best time to celebrate the end of winter with a trip to Wildwood with your sisters, high school friends or college roommates! Our comfortable cabins are the perfect backdrop for relaxing, fireside weekends. We can work with you to bring a massage therapist out to the resort for in-house massage or help make arrangements for beauty treatments at a local salon. Since spring always feels like a time for renewal and new projects it’s the ideal time to plan a quilting retreat or scrapbooking weekend at Wildwood Resort. We are close to Grand Rapids and offer cozy accommodations, room to create and a beautiful view of Bass Lake. We have extra tables and chairs, lots of natural light from floor to ceiling windows and a willingness to move furniture! ATV/OHV

As the popularity of OHV/ATA trails increases so do the number of great trails in our area! Itasca County offers thousands of acres of federal, state, county and industrial forest land that are open to off-highway vehicle riding, but very few designated trails exist. Forest or logging roads are an excellent choice for ATV/OHV use. Each municipality or level of government has a different management plan that governs off-highway vehicle use on their lands. Please check with those governing bodies and know the rules for the type of land you are riding on. Not all classifications of forest roads are open to traffic so be sure to know the rules before you travel.

Fishing

Fishing from our docks is always an adventure for the young anglers. There are plenty of little perch and sunfish swimming around our docks just waiting for a worm on a hook! If the fish aren’t biting near shore, the family is sure to have more luck out on the lake fishing from a boat or pontoon.

Campfire

Is there anything better on a summer night than relaxing by a campfire and watching the sun go down? We don’t think so! Since we are on the east shore of Bass Lake, Wildwood offers you the best possible seat for spectacular sunsets. We have firewood for sale and offer FREE DELIVERY to your fire pit…we even deliver it with a smile. Don’t forget the s’mores…

Playground

Our playground is another huge hit with our families! It features safe and sturdy equipment, a hard surface basketball court and a grassy area perfect for a game of catch. Centrally located – it is convenient for mom and dad and fun for the kids!

Lodge

Our Lodge is attached to our home and is the hub of most of the resort activity. We sell ice cream treats, candy, ice, t-shirts, and some souvenirs. We also have movies, games and books to borrow, lake maps, free fishing advice, area information and we are always ready to enjoy some good conversation around the ice cream freezer.
