Winter is DONE!

I think regardless of where you live, my “4 Reasons to Plan a Spring Get Away in Grand Rapids, MN” track for everyone! The main reason? WINTER IS DONE! Winter is cold and dreary, so whether you live in a cold climate or not, spring is the cause of celebration! The loons are back; our eagles have a baby in the nest, and we’re starting to see buds on the trees. Old Man Winter has been put to bed. That alone is reason enough to plan a spring getaway in Grand Rapids, MN!

Peace and Quiet Before the Busy Summer

The loons returning is a sure sign of spring!

Our life as a owners of Wildwood Resort in Grand Rapids, Minnesota is not a 9-to-5 life. The atypical lifestyle has challenging points but, overall, we love it. While working through our spring project and to-do lists, we work mostly outdoors. I may be spring cleaning cabins indoors, but I do get a lakeview while doing it, and the peace and quiet of the early season are hard to beat.

Once the lake ice is gone, it seems like everything comes to life at once. Cool nights by the campfire and stargazing seem miraculous after a long winter at home. Because of that, many of our summer guests also plan a spring getaway in Grand Rapids, MN, to stay at Wildwood. They spend time relaxing and appreciating the serenity of Bass Lake before the exhilarating chaos of summer vacation with the kids or grandkids.

Outdoor Activities Season Has Returned

Lots of people do not appreciate outdoor winter sports. However, even those who do find the onset of spring exciting! Between the end of the snow season and spring, there really is not much to do outside! But with open water and drier conditions in the forests, all forms of outdoor entertainment are back on the table.

ATV trails, bike trails, and hiking trails reopen, bringing renewed energy to the Grand Rapids, MN area. It’s time to pull out the bikes, find those hiking boots, and dust off the side-by-side. Since so many lakes have opened up, it’s time to pull the boat out of storage and change the lower unit oil. Best of all, it’s time to plan a spring getaway in Grand Rapids, MN, to really enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer.

Summer is Almost Here

The family that plays together stays together!

Spring is actually my second favorite time of the year.  That’s because it is the season where I am anticipating my first favorite time of the year: SUMMER!  The first warm and sunny days of spring feel miraculous.  The sky seems bluer, and the air is sweeter.  We see buds on the trees and know that one of these days, the spring rain and stronger sun will make the leaves pop out!

But for Jay and me, the really big reason to anticipate summer is our guests!  All our cleaning and fixing wouldn’t be nearly as fun if we had no one to share it with.  So, we love to see our guests rolling up the drive ready for their spring getaway at Wildwood Resort! We get second-hand joy from watching them escape real life for a while.

Many of our repeat guests have been coming to Wildwood for decades. Upon arrival, their kids burst out of the car like fireworks. Then, for the first hour or so that they are here, they bounce between their cabin, the beach, and the playground like deranged ping pong balls.  We love it!  What other profession could we have chosen where our customers are happy just to arrive at our place of business?

Their excitement is infectious, and it gives us the boost we need after working hard all spring to get the resort ready.  The single greatest thing about bringing your kids on vacation to a Minnesota resort is something that you cannot value in monetary terms: time.  When our girls were little, we often felt like the only time they had our undivided attention was on vacation. And that’s what we love about Wildwood.  There is a soothing peace here, and we invite you to plan a spring getaway at Wildwood Resort to experience it for yourself!
